Faithfulness: Matthew 25

I find it very disheartening that the last time I wrote was the first December 5. I'm going to do better by the grace of God. Because honestly I feel I have so much to say and it would be nice to remember my thoughts and come back later to see and reflect on those thoughts.

I recently just received a copy of the 60day Daily Bread edition, it's been almost a month and I'm on day 6. Pathetic. But I enjoy reading it when I do. I learn something everytime.

Matthew 25:14-30 The Parable of the Talents
I've read this passage so many times and when I read it today again I was able to see things in a new light, thanks to comments of others on the bible application on my iPhone. In essence this passage is about faithfulness. Jesus speaks about using our "talents." It's not about how much we have, but about how faithfully we serve. As you'll notice the servant with 10 talents who doubled it to 20 received the same response from the master as the servant who received 2 talents and doubled it. The master's response was "Well done, good and faithful servant, you were faithful over a few things. I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord." I often think I don't have enough or I'm not qualified enough to be used by God. But through this parable I see the amount that was realized was not significant!!

Now I want to briefly talk about what I've just learned about faith from others. We have this construed perception that faith is "being true to the scripture and continuing to do the same thing for a long period of time," BUT faith is so much more than that. It's about taking risks and not being afraid. It's about the willingness to trust God to do the impossible. Deep. I know. So in essence faith is for example taking 10 talents, investing it, not knowing whether you'll gain or lose and trusting that in the end it will work out in your favor which is what the first two servants did. Without faith it is impossible to please God.

Food for thought: What talents either through my time, gifts, or money have I been given? And how can I utilize them to gain's the Master's approval?
